One of Taiwan's largest privately owned banks, First Commercial Bank (FCB), has chosen Brisbane for its Australian base. The new branch represents an investment of $20 million and 10-15 new jobs for Queensland.

Premier to meet with King of Spain - 25 June 2009
Premier Anna Bligh will meet with King Juan Carlos I of Spain tomorrow, reinforcing Queensland's commitment to increased trade and investment with this key European economy. "Spain is an important trading partner for Queensland and I am pleased that the King has agreed to meet with me when he visits Sydney on Friday," Ms Bligh said.

Bligh Government reaffirms resolve to tackle unemployment - 11 June 2009
The Bligh Government has reaffirmed its resolve to tackling unemployment and supporting jobs, in response to the latest jobs data. Treasurer Andrew Fraser said the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics labour force data showed that Queensland's trend unemployment rate rose 0.2 percent in May to 5.2 percent.

Bligh Govt incentives see new jobs created in Qld aviation industry - 26 April 2009
Amberley: A Queensland-based aerospace engineering services company will create more than 70 new jobs in the State's aviation industry. Premier Anna Bligh said Queensland Government business incentives would enable Amberley-based Tasman Aviation Enterprises (TAE) to hire dozens of new staff. "My government is 100% committed to job creation and job support," Ms Bligh said.

Triple boost for Queensland research - 28 May 2009
Plastic made from sugarcane, nano-chips to speed up computers and new DNA based bio-medicines are just some of the research projects under the microscope at a trio of new facilities opened today. Tough task just got tougher - 9 April 2009
The Bligh Government remains committed to its election pledge of creating 100,000 jobs over the next three years, despite the release of sobering jobs data today. Treasurer and Minister for Employment and Economic Development Andrew Fraser said data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today showed that in trend terms, Queensland's unemployment rate rose from 4.5 per cent to 4.7 per cent.

Konnichiwa JAPAN! Bligh announces 9,000 new seats into Cairns - 29 January 2009
New weekly flights from Japan to Cairns will add an additional 9,000 seats into Tropical North Queensland, Premier Anna Bligh announced in Cairns today. "Today's announcement follows ongoing discussions between the State and Federal Governments, Tourism Tropical North Queensland and the airline," said Ms Bligh.
