Bligh welcomes new BHP Billiton corporate office and more jobs (16 July 2009)
Premier Anna Bligh tonight welcomed BHP Billiton's decision to shift 40 employees to Queensland as part of its new Metallurgical Coal world head office. "Seventy people will be employed in this new office and more than 40 of them have transferred from other states," said Ms Bligh in officially opening the Waterfront Place corporate office.

State isn't playing games - high tech jobs secured for Sunshine Coast (16 January 2009) 
The Bligh Government has brokered a deal that will see one of Australia's biggest video game developers establish a Sunshine Coast office, generating millions of dollars in economic opportunities and more than 80 jobs. Acting Premier Paul Lucas today confirmed Melbourne-based Big Ant Studios plans to locate an initial 30-person development team at the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast.

Primo says Smart State is El Supremo (17 December 2008) 
Industry Minister Desley Boyle has welcomed news that smallgoods manufacturer Primo will establish a $70M plant at Wacol in Brisbane. Minister Boyle said the company would build a state-of-the-art 18,000 square metre plant to house its smallgoods manufacturing, warehousing and distribution facilities, substantially expanding its Queensland operations.

Mining boom hits Brisbane ICT industry (17 December 2008) 
Brisbane will be home to a new mining company by the end of the year whose interest is not in minerals but digging through data to find valuable information. Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Minister Desley Boyle said the US-owned IT company TextOre was expanding globally and, with assistance from Invest Queensland, set to open its Australasian base in Brisbane.

World leading games development studio heads to Queensland (18 November 2008) 
Tantalus, one of the world's leading independent electronic games development studios renowned for titles such as Cars, Top Gear Rally, MX vs ATV and SpongeBob SquarePants, is establishing operations in Queensland. Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Desley Boyle said Tantalus would open a brand new multi-team game development studio in Brisbane, the home for games development in Australia.

High tech marine firm opens Australian HQ in Queensland (20 June 2008) 
A high tech composites supplier that is saving manufacturers around the world up to 40 per cent in boat building costs is moving to Loganholme. The company, High Modulus, is a leading international supplier of composites technology and has revolutionised composite boat building around the world.

Bligh Government lures world leading US aviation company to Queensland (28 May 2008)
Queensland's reputation as a centre for pilotless aircraft received a boost today with the announcement that a major US player was setting up shop in Brisbane. Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Desley Boyle said the State Government had worked hard to secure the establishment of prestigious Washington State based Insitu in the Smart State.

Gold Coast hosts major international helicopter conference (28 May 2008)
In a continued boost to the credentials of Queensland aviation and aerospace industry the Gold Coast will host a major international helicopter convention this week. Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Desley Boyle said the Heli-Pacific and UV Asia Pacific 2008 conference will kick off tomorrow at the Crown Plaza Royal Pines Resort at Ashmore.

Major Japanese steel manufacturer relocates office to Brisbane (07 April 2008)
Tokyo: A major Japanese steel producer will relocate their Australian office to Brisbane following an announcement in Tokyo. Premier of Queensland Anna Bligh hosted a luncheon to promote the State as a continued reliable, top-quality supplier of coking coal for use by Japanese steel manufacturers.

Minister welcomes international aviation heavyweight to Brisbane (14 March 2008)
International aviation heavyweight Boeing has celebrated 10 years in Australia by officially announcing the establishment of its research and development organisation Phantom Works in Queensland, Minister for Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Desley Boyle said today. Speaking at a special reception at the Queensland University of Technology on Thursday (March 13) to welcome Phantom Works Australia to Queensland, Ms Boyle said the company had plans to employ 30 scientific and engineering staff, growing to 74 within four years.

Queensland attracts $50 million factory at Brendale (30 January 2008)
Industry Minister Desley Boyle today attended the official sod-turning ceremony for the construction of a new $50 million glasswool insulation factory at Pine Rivers. Ms Boyle said: "Bradford Insulation, a subsidiary of CSR, expect to complete the new factory by November 2008."

Manufacturing jobs boost for Bundaberg (07 September 2007) 
Minister for State Development John Mickel today announced 136 new manufacturing jobs for Bundaberg thanks to a decision by Transpacific Industries to significantly expand its current Superior Pak facility. Transpacific is Australasia's leading provider of integrated total waste management solutions, specialising in solid, liquid and hazardous waste.

Smart State to host Climate Change Conference (17 August 2007) 
Some of Australia and New Zealand's most prominent political, business, scientific and environmental leaders will converge on Brisbane later this month to discuss the impact of climate change on the region's economic future, Premier Peter Beattie said today. Mr Beattie said the 3rd Australia-New Zealand Climate Change and Business Conference, to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 30, was timely for the Smart State.

Aviation firm spreads its wings into 50th year of business (09 August 2007)
A leading Brisbane-based aviation firm supporting some of the world's most cutting edge military and civil helicopters continues to soar to success in its 50th year of operations. Minister for State Development John Mickel today visited Pinkenba-based Helitech, a division of Sikorsky Aircraft Australia, to congratulate the firm on five decades in the Smart State.

Global investors continue to flock to Queensland (08 March 2007)
Minister for State Development John Mickel today announced in Parliament two major new investments in Queensland that would generate jobs and boost the economy. "Ludowici Ltd, a Sydney-based company that designs, manufactures and markets mineral processing equipment for the global mining industry is relocating its corporate headquarters to Pinkenba," Mr Mickel said.
